Pushing the limitations of genre and structure, delve into the psychedelic and ethereal world of The Mountain King’s latest album

Never to be confined by the notion of expectations, the artist known as The Mountain King has consistently strived to push his music into new, unforeseen territory- making us question our relationship with the world around us.
Nowhere is this better exemplified than in his latest, upcoming album, The Smell Of Stars And Vomit.
An extensive journey far beyond the reach of reality, the album has brought our perception of music into question and generated an emotive experience unlike anything else currently on the scene.

Written by over the duration of four years, the album captures an approach exclusive to The Mountain King. Neglecting the conventional structure of separate tracks, the album stands as a 95 minute long voyage into the unknown- exploring themes of philosophy and our relationship with Earth along the way.
In a way that can only be best described as an audio movie, the album tells the abstract narrative of an astronaut isolated in space- increasingly engulfed by the limitless void that surrounds him. Yet, whilst an unorthodox approach, we urge listeners to shun any preexisting notions and immerse themselves into the album with an open mind and a disregard of conventions.
Almost reminiscent to the ethereal Led Zeppelin track, ‘No Quarter’, and Pink Floyd’s psychedelic masterpiece, ‘Shine On You Crazy Diamond’, The Smell Of Stars And Vomit both takes listeners on a journey into the 60s music scene and a new dimension.
With elements of Prog, Post Rock and Doom Metal all finding their way into the piece, The Mountain King not only creates an album which can be appreciated by Rock and Metal fans globally, but also exemplifies his impeccable songwriting ability.
Abandoning the guitar-orientated sound of his previous album, Wicked Zen, and installing a unique ⅞ time signature throughout, The Smell Of Stars And Vomit becomes centred around the bass; intertwining numerous elements together to provoke an overwhelming emotive experience.

Merging different layers and allowing his notion to move freely, without the constraints of time, the unorthodox structure of the album begins to mirror the narrative of the astronaut in question.
Effortlessly shifting between different sections and provoking an ethereal, timeless aura, The Smell Of Stars And Vomit comes as a refreshing break from the rest of the current music scene. Distanced from the overwhelming turmoil of recent events, The Mountain King’s decision to break conventions in the album offers the perfect escape for those feeling bombarded by the world around them.
Avoiding pretentious associations of experimental Prog-Rock, the stripped-back and atmospheric approach taken within the album unites music-lovers through its narrative. Conveying the stunning layering of instruments, similar to that of 60’s Prog, it is the album’s refusal to be constrained by boundaries that allows it to convey the story it aims to tell.
Although a distant stretch from any other Rock album currently on the scene, it is the audio film depicted in The Smell Of Stars And Vomit that allows The Mountain King to provide the perfect escape for those overwhelmed by the chaotic and tumultuous world around them.
