Upon their formation over a decade ago, electronic-metal band, Chrome Sky, have strived to consistently push boundaries to make a genre distinctive to them. Best described as a fusion of genres including Heavy Rock, Synth-Pop and Industrial Metal, the band is set to turn heads with their latest single- ‘Kleenex’.
In a sound unique to them, ‘Kleenex’ blends genres from across the board to convey a vital message of injustice. Inspired by the exposure of violence against women and minors across Sicily back in 2009, the duo use the track to shed light on issues that span beyond the current pandemic-driven headlines.
Heavier than their previous release, Chrome Sky take a much more metal-orientated approach to ‘Kleenex’. With influences ranging from Mastodon and The Young Gods prevailing throughout, the heavy backbone provided to the track guarantees to appeal to the masses.
Incorporating a multitude of genres with utter ease, the rasp of vocalist and songwriter, Paolo Miano, is set to satisfy Classic Metal fans as it draws similarities to frontmen including Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister and Black Label Society’s Zakk Wylde.
Although unmistakably Metal at first glance, the subtle backdrop of Synth-Pop, EDM and upbeat, 80s-inspired Techno that lurks beneath the heavy vocals and drum rhythms allows the duo to stand apart from any others currently on the scene.
As a whole, despite the band’s lack of conformity and outright refusal to fit into a set genre, ‘Kleenex’ conveys the perfect level of familiarity to appeal to any metal lover- with influences from Mastodon, Black Label Society and Motörhead becoming prevalent.
With their unorthodox approach to the sound they convey and the message they strive to send, the elements of 80s Thrash, Synth-Pop and Classic Metal throughout has piqued our interest for what is yet to come from Chrome Sky. Now, with their upcoming album just around the corner, we are excited to see how the release will give a new surge of life to the Metal genre and stand apart from the masses.
